Boracay, Philippines, Okt 2006

Just back from my 1 week trip to the Philippines. That is really the nice advantage of living in Asia. You are only 2-3 hours away from all the dream vacation locations :)
One week relaxing on the beach, only interrupted by 1-2 scuba dives a day. That is what I needed after some stressfull months.

Wulin - Taiwan Mountains, Sep 2006

Spend a weekend in the central mountains of Taiwan. In a small valley called Wulin. The mountains enclosing the valley are up to 3500 meters high, but without a permit you are not allowed to enter any trail in Taiwan :-(. So I did some small hiking on the "tourist" trails and some biking. Next time I will target the 2nd highest mountain in Taiwan, which is a 2 days tour from the valley.

Taiwan North-East Coast, Jul 2006

Together with my colleague May, I spent a very nice day on the North-East coast of Taiwan. It was very windy, since a typhoon was passing close by. Therfore we had the rare opportunity of a clear sky.

Shihmen Reservoir, Taiwan, May 2006

First time experiencing the freedom of having a car. I did a one day trip into the mountains near Hsinchu. This is a reservoir called Shimen. I found some nice places to explore with my mountain bike (to be bought).

Home Leave

On my home leave my parents invited Shamma and me to a weekend in Switzerland. We were very lucky, while at home in Munich it was raining, we had perfect weather and snow. I made some photos with my mobile of the Morteratsch glacier. Klick on the Photo to see more

Weekend Trip to Kenting, South Taiwan

This weekend I took Friday off and spend three days at the beaches of South Taiwan. You can find the photos here. The weather was perfect in Kenting. This alone was worth the trip, because in Hsinchu it was raining the whole time. Since I still got no car I had too take the train to KaoShung (4h) and then by Bus to Kenting (2.5h).
The beaches are world class, and the parks are really great for hiking. But the best was cruising around with the scooter in the hills.
